  • At the farmer’s market. You know what that means: kettle korn! :-) I hear @motherpopper’s around somewhere. #
  • Just bought a praying mantis egg pod. Soon, I’ll have 200+ tiny mantis minions. Mwa ha ha! :-) #
  • Kettle Korn akwired. Along with some Rogue Creamery cheese curds and some yummy chocolate dipped macaroons. And Dave’s Killer Bread. #

  • @Jmartens Where in Beaverton did Obama end up going? #
  • @jmoriarty @billpearson @ajaymm Come to the Twitter Boot Camp next week. We’ll get EVERYONE using Twitter. It’s going to rock! :-) #
  • @SharonG This particular Twitter Boot Camp is for a particular audience, but I’ll likely start doing open-invitation ones soon. Stay tuned! #
  • @geekygirldawn @selenamarie Yeah, GoDaddy can go DIAF right about now. Thanks, Selena, for straightening it out! You rock! :-) #
  • Quote of the day (from a discussion on how tired the term "social media" is): "It’s not social if someone owns it." #
  • I’d point you to a blog post I just wrote (with a funny video!) on how I’m starting to hate the term "social media", but mediatemple is down #
  • Mediatemple’s up for the moment, so here’s that post on "I’m starting to hate the term social media": http://tinyurl.com/5tvtgq #
  • @rodfather I’m relieved that you still follow me. Glad I changed my tagline to "storyteller" from "social media evangelist". :-) #
  • @rodfather LOL if I ever do, you have permission to shoot me and take all of my toys. :-) #
  • @bethlubov TweetScan is down? Bummer. Try using Summize.com instead. #
  • @skyler I scoff in the general direction of your despisal of my hatred of social media. :-P #
  • @skyler I’m not on GoDaddy. 1and1 for names, mediatemple for hosting. Maybe shopping around if they don’t get their act together. #
  • Turns out the Beaverton software company where Obama made his surprise appearance was Vernier, not Inspiration. http://tinyurl.com/5m8nug #
  • @jmartens You totally called Vernier. Good guess! #
  • @timdorr Thanks. I checked out ASO before, when I was shopping for hosting. Can’t remember why I didn’t pick it. Will look into it! :-) #
  • Oh, fun. Nvidia’s CEO has been ranting about Intel to CNET again: http://tinyurl.com/6mrprt #
  • @sumwan Oh, I don’t. Sometimes I wish our CEO wasn’t so mild-mannered, though, so we could see some real sparks fly. ;-) #
  • @Jerry_Makare false advertising! I came over to Merlot to partake in the Nerf warfare, and you weren’t there! :-) #
  • ZOMG Vernier Software, where Obama was this morning, is literally about 2 blocks from where I used to live in Beaverton. Small world! :-) #
  • A dozen nice photos of Obama’s Beaverton visit from the Oregonian on Flickr: http://tinyurl.com/6ydbnz #
  • @timdorr Do shared hosting accts on A Small Orange have SSH/shell access? Can’t find it listed on the site. #
  • @timdorr How well does ASO handle WordPress? I run about a dozen WP sites, mostly low traffic, with one that gets about 5000 hits/day. #
  • @timdorr Thanks for your answers, BTW. It’s looking more and more likely that you’re getting a new customer. :-) #
  • @Jerry_Makare My life would be incomplete if a Dance War between Intel’s and Nvidia’s CEOs happened, and I wasn’t there to shoot video. :-) #
  • @timdorr I definitely run caching. :-) #
  • @billpearson Would love to get a debrief of that wiki conversation. #
  • @kellyrfeller Not big brother. Mashups that enable stuff like this: http://pulseofpdx.com and this: http://pulseofintel.tweetpeek.com #
  • @kellyrfeller If you’d prefer to opt out of the @pulseofintel conversation stream, feel free to block it. You have control of your tweets. #
  • @kellyrfeller That’s a good point. Twitter is open by default - anyone can follow you. Do you vet each one of your followers? #
  • @kellyrfeller I just assume Twitter is a public broadcast medium, and don’t say anything I wouldn’t say to the whole world. #
  • @kellyrfeller Sun is great. It’s nice and cool, too. Thanks! Bummed I’m not going to see Iron Man, though. :-) #
  • Man, @steverubel really brings the flow. I’ve had a ton of new comments on my "i hate social media" post since he tweeted about it. :-) #
  • @memathews She knows how to block/protect. We were just discussing the creepy potential for HR Twitter stalking, etc. #
  • @memathews Busy tonight (no babysitting, either), and I want to see Iron Man first, but go forth and Tweetup for Speed Racer! Have fun! :-) #
  • Oh man. Emma barfed ALL OVER @rachelbancroft at Baja Fresh a while ago. It was epic. I felt so bad for both of them. Now, home and baths. #
  • @bethgo Wii friend codes are weird. You don’t see other people unless you both explicitly add each other’s friend code. #
  • Another awesome Mac app from Google - Vidnik. Record video from your Mac’s camera, and post straight to YouTube. http://tinyurl.com/4rloza #

  • @hungryclone Not sure who you’re talking to about Mario Kart, but everyone I know that has played it loves it. Best game on the Wii today. #
  • @johnfischer I wish the rest of the stickers were StickerGiant stickers. I’m a big fan. :-) #
  • @mellowynk I would say "Are you threatweeting me?!" #
  • @ahockley They were wax beans, weren’t they. :-) #
  • @psteinb It’s about time we got a blog post out of you! :-) #
  • @psteinb Deoends on where "ISC" means. What URL, specifically? There’s no separate blog for ISC that I know of. #
  • @billpearson I find a happy compromise - I tweet about work. ;-) #
  • @SharonG @gwalter Um, the AmazonMP3 Download automatically adds purchased MP3s to iTunes, Windows Media, etc. I love it buy there frequently #
  • @psteinb Yes, you can apply any and all relevant categories to a blog post. #
  • THe Aiptek Action HD video camera has arrived! 1080p@30fps, 720p@60fps, records to H.264 .MOV files. Hope I’ll get time to play tonight! #
  • TV news just said Barack Obama is going to be at a private event at a software company in Beaverton in the AM. Anyone know where? #
  • @turoczy :-P AP said its an "educational" software company. Guesses? #
  • @turoczy might not hurt to drop by in the AM. News said private event, but you never know. :-) #
  • @turoczy I have an almost 2 year old you can borrow if you need one. :-) #
  • @jmartens where is Inspiration Software in bvtn? Never heard of them. #

Microposts from Twitter on 2008-05-07

  • Played a little Mario Kart last night. I SUCK at the bikes. Can’t keep them off the walls. And I keep getting killed online. Embarrassing ;) #
  • I keep hearing such good things about Boom Blox on Twitter, Penny Arcade, and from @benkuchera at Ars that I’m going to have to pick it up. #
  • @rigeek Did you send me your friend code? Mine is 0302 0226 1424. Would love to play some time! :-) (That goes for anyone else, too.) #
  • @natetrue Yeah, I’ve been meaning to register my friend code with them. Thanks! :-) #
  • @wii Mario Kart 0302-0226-1424 #
  • @billpearson I can guarantee that buying every Intel employee an iPhone would have a (positive) impact on the quality of MIDs. Great idea! #
  • @psteinb It would only need to support Exchange Activesync, which is built into the Exchange servers. I used to use it under pilot. Simple. #
  • I really, really wish I could stay logged in to MediaTemple via SSH for more than 5 seconds. I need to tar up some files for @selenamarie… #
  • I don’t know whether to blame Intel’s flaky proxies, or mediatemple. I’ll blame both, just to be safe. #
  • @Skawtnyc It’s not timing out, the connection just goes dead after a random interval. Then I have to try 2 or 3 times to get back in. *sigh* #
  • On the upside, I’m getting good and typing "tar -cvzf igniteportland.com.tar.gz ./*" as fast as I can. :-) #
  • Yay! I made it! That’s almost as exciting as winning on Mario Kart! :-) #
  • @psteinb I have no idea if Intel IT plans to support the iPhone or not. But when the 2.0 OS drops next month, a TON of us will want it. :-) #
  • @andrewhyde Do you mean that Twitter Tools posts are having blank categories? I never had that problem. I have duplicate post problems. #
  • @andrewhyde I was messing around with assigning a different category, and excluding it from my feed. Hope you find a fix! #
  • @turoczy You need keyless entry for your house. Ask MeFi has you covered: http://tinyurl.com/4gs3fe #
  • Grabbing OpenOffice.org 3.0 beta, now that it has native Mac support. Hat tip to @marshallk - thanks! :-) #
  • @Marcel_InCircle Yup, you no longer need ugly old X11 to use OpenOffice.org on the Mac. Yay! :-) #
  • @rachelbancroft That’s my boy! Go big or go home! :-) And, uh, what does "PR’d" mean? #
  • Ever drive by or eat at Oney’s restaurant on Hwy 26, on the way to the coast? Well, it burned down. :-( http://tinyurl.com/3pcktn #
  • @psteinb I know nothing about the disappearance of that video, I promise! :-) I’ve still got it if you want another copy. #
  • @blath @bobuva Yeah. At least it wasn’t Camp 18 - that thing is nothing but one big logpile, waiting to go up! #
  • @psteinb I’m doing a video tutorial/blog post on my whole video workflow, start to finish. You might find it useful. :-) #
  • Finished the meta-video for my video workflow tutorial post. Encoding now. Then: writing the actual post. Need lots of screenshots. #
  • My laptop stickers - let me show you them! http://tinyurl.com/6dpqbv #
  • Hey, remember Photoshop Express? It just got a LOT more interesting. They added Flickr support! :-) http://tinyurl.com/4gnccd #
  • @wii Nintendo Wii 1051-7785-8274-8863 #
  • More Mario Kart practice tonight. Finished all the 100cc cups, most with Gold. I’m finally getting better with the bikes. #
  • The only person who friended me back so far is @marusin. The rest of you are slackers. ;-) Look up my code via @wii. #
  • Even better, register YOUR code with @wii (http://wiitransfer.com/codes) so we can easily find each other. Love that service! :-) #

Microposts from Twitter on 2008-05-06

  • Thank you to everyone who has shared kind words with me in the last 12 hours or so. I love you guys! :-) #
  • Here’s why I can’t make myself stop using Twitteriffic, and switch to Twhirl, Alert Thingy, or Spaz - it uses Growl for notifications. #
  • I want to love the other AIR-based Twitter clients, but Growl notifications are so pretty! (Especially with the iPhone theme.) #
  • @funkatron I’ll install whatever you tell me to. #
  • Yay! The new Google Reader Shared Item Notes get preserved perfectly in my linkblog (which runs on soup.io) http://linkblog.joshbancroft.com #
  • @verso It’s a close call between Tumblr and soup. Soup lets me have more than 5 feeds. It doesn’t auto-tuncate stuff. It’s ajaxy and pretty. #
  • @tokerud Honestly, Google Reader killed del.icio.us for me YEARS ago. I haven’t used it in ages. The new Notes are just icing on the cake. #
  • @funkatron How well would that work behind an HTTP proxy (like me at work)? I’ll help you test it if you want. #
  • @influxx You can make Twhirl not QUITE so ugly - pick a darker theme, change the font to Verdana 12 (I think). But Twitterific IS prettier. #
  • Another thing I love about Twitterrific (that other clients could copy easily): Cmd+2 to reply and Cmd+D to direct message someone. #
  • And something that bugs me about soup.io: it takes hours, if not a day or so, to update the RSS feed that it generates. Boo! :-( #
  • @funkatron Yes, I know. But Spaz isn’t ugly to begin with, like Twhirl. ;-) #
  • @RichSPK It’s not that different keyboard shortcuts are better, per se, but that they’re DIFFERENT. Muscle memory is hard to relearn. #
  • @tokerud Do whatever works best for you - delicious is still an awesome service. Competition among these is good for us! :-) #
  • @billpearson You’re right - my web connection just blows today. I hate it when the Intel proxies get cranky like this! :-( #
  • Dear Twitter: Isn’t there a keyboard shortcut in iTunes to jump directly to the Search box? It’s really annoying to have to mouse up there. #
  • @Irek You’re right - Tab does sort of work to get to the search box in iTunes. Depends on where focus is to start. Thanks! :-) #
  • What other web awards are out there, besides the Webbys, WebVisionary, and SXSW/Adobe? #
  • @eeUS Thanks! @influxx thanks for FWA, too. I’ll check it out. Keep em coming! :-) #
  • @Jerry_Makare Ooh, that looks interesting. I’d love to see the ISN Take Five video site win some awards! :-) #
  • @kellyrfeller The new Intel.com doesn’t work at all (past the "Pick a Country" page) on BlackBerries and my Kindle. :-) #
  • @kellyrfeller I’m also told it doesn’t work at all if you have Flash disabled. #
  • Whoa. FriendFeed picked up a Google Reader Note and turned it into a FriendFeed comment. That was cool - @scobleizer, did you hear that? ;-) #
  • @kellyrfeller @sharong I tested the new Intel.com on my iPhone, and it actually works pretty well, even without Flash. #
  • @ahockley Oh? How should Intel use Silverlight. Do tell! :-) #
  • @psteinb has swiped my little Aiptek video camera, and is going around ambushing people in their cube’s for interivews. :-) #
  • Including me - I was the first one he ambushed. :-) #
  • Oooh. @chartier sez that Brightkite’s iPhone version of the site is finally available. I’ll have to to play with it. #
  • @smb Look at http://friendfeed.com/jabancroft/comments That comment on the Little Brother item came from a note I wrote in GReader. #
  • @smb Yeah, it would be cool if GReader did it. But since FriendFeed does it, you could just comment over there. :-) #
  • The BrightKite iPhone website works. It’s pretty. But I want it to grab my location from the phone, and offer 1-click checkin. I’m greedy! #
  • Hey Twitter - how do I replace the audio track of a Quicktime movie using Quicktime Pro? I’ve extracted and editing, now I need to replace. #
  • A ha! "Add to Selection and Scale" does it! Woo hoo! Now I can fix audio tracks in Levelator! Me= happy. :-) #
  • @Jerry_Makare You gotta come see this audio wizardry we’re doing. :-) #
  • @annierodkins Prune your Twitter list mercilessly. Go through it, and remove anyone where you have to think "who is this person?". Trust me. #
  • Wow. My whole Twitter UI (web) is in Japanese, all of a sudden, too! #
  • @jmoriarty what was the Ignite Phoenix URL? I haven’t heard of one there. You should do one! :-) #
  • @jmoriarty you’re right - that doesnt look anything like an Ignite or pecha kucha event. You should still do one. Just call it smthng else. #

Microposts from Twitter on 2008-05-05

  • @chippy try QuickTime Pro for editing that MP4 file. Its simple, cheap ($30), and works WAY better than Windows Movie Maker. #
  • In a meeting where someone decided to cram 9 PowerPoint slides into one, in a grid. Why, oh why?! It’s almost impossible to make sense of… #
  • The free Creative Commons text editions of Cory Doctorow’s new book, Little Brother, are now available. Go get it! http://tinyurl.com/4xse5t #
  • Just grabbed the Mobipocket edition of Little Brother and put it on my Kindle. Need to finish the books I’m reading so I can start it! :-) #
  • Something I find far more entertaining/amusing than I should: watching marketing people scheme to exploit "social media". :-) #
  • @kellyrfeller I’m not TRYING to be negative, but the sheer amount of marketing buzzwords, and complete lack of talk of humans is dismaying. #
  • @kellyrfeller "There is NO demand for marketing messages." I’m not anti business or anti marketing. I’m pro Cluetrain. #
  • @kellyrfeller And yes, I DO remember the web before there were ANY corporate sites and ads. Do you? What was it like? Was it worth anything? #
  • @Britopian @kellyfeller I put my emphasis on CONNECTING with REAL HUMANS. That’s what I value. What do I do that you consider exploitation? #
  • I just said: I’m NOT anti-marketing. But there’s a right way and wrong way to do it. Right = respect and connect with humans. #
  • @kellyrfeller I’d love to debate you on this. :-) #
  • @Britopian But everything you write, on blog or Twitter, it seems, is all about marketing and "social media". What’s social about that? #
  • My problem with marketers abusing "social media" is that they treat it as "just another channel for messages". The miss the FUNDAMENTAL diff #
  • The Internet is the most powerful tool ever invented for AVOIDING marketing messages. Spam filters. Ad blockers. The web != captive audience #
  • The old marketing ways of hammering people on the head with messages doesn’t work on the web. You’ve got to find new ways. Give up control. #
  • @Britopian But do you realize that when all you blog about is that, you’re talking AT the conversation? ;-) #
  • @Britopian You use all the right buzzwords, but buzzwords set off people’s BS detectors. ;-) #
  • If anyone is interested, compare and contrast what Intel is doing in "social media" with what Zappos.com is doing. Let me know what you find #
  • I’m not giving enough praise. There are lots of people in Intel marketing that DO get it. Coincidentally, they’re the ones on Twitter. ;-) #
  • @kellyfeller Buzzwords make you sound not human. Real people don’t talk in buzzwords. You don’t talk in buzzwords all the time, do you? ;-) #
  • @kellyfeller @britopian Honest question: Have you read The Cluetrain Manifesto? #
  • @kellyrfeller You can read Cluetrain, in its entirety, for free online at http://www.cluetrain.com. It really will be worth the effort. I promise. #
  • @kellyfeller re: buzzwords, go listen to this song and see if you can identify the buzzwords: http://tinyurl.com/pnpj8 Thank me later. :-) #
  • For the record, @jonathancoulton is my hero, and "Re:Your Brains" should be Intel’s theme song. ;-) #
  • @britopian Are you asking if I’ve read Cluetrain? I make it a point to read it at least once a year. I buy copies to give away to people. :) #
  • I’m going to set up a podcast/audio debate between myself, @kellyfeller, @britopian, @annierodkins, and whoever else wants to join. Fun! :-) #
  • @Britopian LOL! I was asked to write that post, for the launch of the Mobility blog. On short notice. And they wanted to approve it. :-) #
  • @Britopian Some background on that post: http://tinyurl.com/4nslqa And the whole thing kind of fell apart. #
  • @Britopian re: "two comments waiting" - I responded to @thomashan via Twitter in minutes. And like I said, I stopped writing there. #
  • @Britopian Are you poring through everything I’ve ever written, to find examples to throw in my face? ;-) #
  • @Britopian Yes, he’s @skawtnyc on Twitter. #
  • Listening to the new free NIN album, "The Slip". Trent’s experiements in music distro have made me a fan. Good stuff. #
  • @Britopian re @skawtnyc’s comments, go re-read Cluetrain Theses 20 through 22: http://tinyurl.com/5gr79 #
  • @RichSPK Re: different artwork for each on from NIN - I noticed that - very nice touch. Wish more artists did it. #
  • @Britopian Do you hold comments for approval on your blog? if so, why? #
  • I have a tab in Firefox that I’m unable to close. Weird. #
  • @skyler Fix it, dude! I need it! :-) #
  • I had a hard day, emotionally. One of the downsides of "radical transparency" is having your feelings close to the surface, easily hurt. :-( #
  • @WarnerCrocker Thanks, man. I appreciate it. :-) #
  • Tonight, I indulged in self-prescribed blog therapy. Wanna join a group hug? http://tinyurl.com/4bq27u #
  • Now, self-medicating with a pint of Ben & Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk. #
  • @charleneli Thanks, Charlene. I’ll be fine. Just need a good mope. And some ice cream. :-) #
  • @kellyrfeller Thanks, Kelly. That means a lot. :-) #
  • @Scobleizer Thanks, Robert. I figure if you can get through stuff like this, so can I. :-) #
  • @Skawtnyc I’d actually prefer Chubby Hubby, then Chunky Monkey, but NYSFC was what was in the freezer. :-) #
  • @skyler you always have such a way with words. I’m going to write a book of Skyler phrases someday. TLSN! YGTFUYLD! :-) #
  • @charleneli Thanks for the note. You’re absolutely right. I really appreciate the honest feedback, and I’ll do my best! :-) #
  • @turoczy LOL best answer yet. Thanks. :-) #

  • m.twitter is now missing the "older" link. So no paging via API OR web. Great. Who needs to read more than the last 10 tweets? :-( #

  • @memathews Mario Kart Wii has internet multiplayer. It’s very robust, and very fun. We should race sometime. :-) Got a friend code? #
  • @marusin I haven’t been online in Mario Kart since Tuesday. The Wii at work has wireless disabled, and it’s been a busy week at home. :-) #
  • @jschultz WebVisions should be cool this year. And you should come, because I’m speaking on a panel with Ward Cunningham and others. :-) #
  • @jschultz Yes, the topic of the panel is open source. I’m also a judge for the WebVisionary awards, which should be fun. :-) #
  • @sharong In my defense, that Ashlee Simspon song is from the soundtrack of an awesome game - Elite Beat Agents. Do I get to maintain cred? #

  • @davest I just saw that your OpenSolaris video got posted to Take Five, so I replaced the one in your blog post with the new high qual ver. #
  • Today is No Pants Day. It seems that Twitter celebrated a day early, by dropping its pants yesterday. How is today going to be? #
  • It looks like Intel PR in France has joined Twitter: @IntelPRFrance. Wonder what they’ll have to say? #
  • Twitter seems to be pretty stable so far today. No API timeouts, no 500 error pages. So far. #
  • @Britopian You still have two bogus feed links on your new site. Just get rid of the RSS 0.92 and Atom links in the header. #
  • @Britopian There’s no need for multiple feed formats if you’re using FeedBurner. In fact, mult. feed formats are unnecessary, period. #
  • @Britopian You could fix it yourself. It’s in header.php. Don’t be afraid of a little code, man! ;-) #
  • Want to know how a company SHOULD do "social media" (ick, I hate that term)? Go read @marshallk’s post on how Zappos.com is doing it. #
  • Here’s @marshallk’s RWW post on Zappos.com and "social media": http://tinyurl.com/6f4lx2 #
  • @davest That’s why you should be using Firefox, instead of IE. ;-) #
  • @Britopian Look for "link rel=alternate". Leave the FeedBurner one, dump the RSS .92 and Atom ones. #
  • @davest You’d be surprised at how well Firefox works on the intranet. I’ll help you. There’s a "Firefox at Intel" page on Intelpedia, too. #
  • @kellyrfeller What they’re doing makes me want to go buy something at zappos.com, just to support them. :-) #
  • @kellyrfeller How about just "media?" "Social Media" is vague enough as to be meaningless. Just say what you mean, and be specific! :-) #
  • @kellyrfeller @steverubel, the original PR/marketing guy to figure out "social media", gives his reasons: http://tinyurl.com/52g7ku #
  • @flocker I’ll try Flock again when the FF3-based version is available. :-) #
  • HAY GUYS GUESS WHAT!? Ignite Portland 3 is out of the bag. June 18 at the Bagdad. @turoczy broke the news: http://tinyurl.com/5gpl58 #

  • Hey Intel Jones Farm people - don’t forget! Mario Kart Wii in the JF1 lobby, starting around 11:30. Don’t leave me hanging like last time! #
  • @metafluence You want a MySQL dump, or a WP export? #
  • @metafluence Actually, it looks like a WP export doesn’t contain users, so how bout a SQL dump instead? #
  • @metafluence SQL dump on the way. And tell me where to point igniteportland.com, and I can take care of that, too. #
  • @metafluence @geekygirldawn no hurry on the migration. We can wait until BarCamp madness is over. :-) #
  • @jschultz Is that meeting today? I used to attend, but it’s not on my calendar anymore. Have whoever owns it re-add me, and I’ll show up! :) #
  • Yay! The May Foxkeh (Mozilla Japan’s cute Firefox mascot) wallpapers are out! http://tinyurl.com/4mddm6 :-) #
  • @kveton As long as the stain on your shirt isn’t doing this, you’ll be OK: http://tinyurl.com/5r5jow #
  • @dlkinney Check out this wireless USB demo video I shot in Shanghai. The tech is on its way, soon! Death to wires! http://tinyurl.com/46jj8o #
  • @metafluence OK, I’ve pointed DNS at those name servers. Propagation should take a few hours. Is there a site there for people to land? #
  • Wow. It hasn’t even been 4 hours since the Ignite Portland 3 cat got out of the bag, and there are already 75 people RSVPed on Upcoming. Wow #
  • @conroyl Thanks - I appreciate that! :-) You’re going to LOVE the Kindle. It’s going to turn education/textbooks on their head. #
  • So, is there STILL no way to get your "News Feed" from Facebook as an RSS feed? Seriously? :-( #
  • @samgrover Yeah, I had weird problems with Upcoming (Firefox/Mac) this morning. Safari worked fine. Strange. #
  • @conroyl No, not really. You probably won’t ever need the extra battery, but it’d be nice to have. It goes for days and days and weeks. :-) #
  • Thanks to @blogan and @samgrover for coming over for Mario Kart Wii at lunchtime. It was a blast! We totally need to make that a habit. :-) #
  • @ejacqui I’m with you. Wheel > nunchuk. I’m not competitive. I play to have fun. And the wheel is more fun. :-) #
  • Cory Doctorow’s "Little Brother" is now available for the Kindle. @conroyl, you totally need to buy/read/share it: http://tinyurl.com/443jyh #
  • I showed @rachelbancroft how to post iPhone photos to Flickr and our family blog, gadgetfamily.org, last night. Love the pics she’s posting! #
  • @oregoniansteve twitterlocal.net will show you which cities have the most tweets. TweetStats.com will show an individual. But… (con’td) #
  • @oregoniansteve I don’t know of a good way to find out which Portland Twitterer has the most tweets. Good question. Maybe it’s me! :-) #
  • @oregoniansteve I bet you a sandwich that @mattking knows the answer (to which Portlander has the most tweets). :-) #
  • @oregoniansteve I think I owe you the sandwich. Until @mattking figures out how to poll the Twitter API for total tweets for each PDXer. ;-) #
  • @ahockley Amusement park rides? Are they getting ready for the Rose Festival already? #
  • @conroyl Awesome. Thanks! :-) #
  • Wish I was going to BarCampPortland tonight, but we have our babysitting group. Our turn to sit 6 kids. My plan? Mario Kart! :-) #

  • Gabe is sick. He was very clingy and cuddly this morning (he’s usually bouncing off the walls), and felt warm. Poor little guy… #

  • Did you know that Intel pays the paychecks of developers responsible for 4.1% of the changes to the Linux kernel? http://tinyurl.com/2s9oma #
  • According to that study, the only companies that "sponsor" more of the Linux kernel work are IBM, Novell, and Red Hat. Pretty cool, i think. #

  • @podcasthotel I’m a blogger. I’ve been using Firefox 3 exclusively since beta 2, starting a few months ago. #
  • @elliot I tried Flock a while ago, but there were just enough differences/incompatible addons that I switched back to Firefox. #
  • @Jerry_Makare Dude! You started a blog, all on your own! That’s awesome! I’m subscribed. :-) #
  • @flocker I’m open to trying Flock again. Can you give me a 140 character summary of why it’s better than Firefox 3? #
  • @conroyl Sarah seems to like her Dell XT. I’ve heard good things about it. I also love the Lenovo X61 Tablet. Both would be great. #
  • @conroyl Only thing you do that might not work well on one is Second Life, because it’s so graphics intensive. But I don’t know for sure… #
  • @conroyl Yeah, but blue screens are just the price you pay for running Windows. The Blue Screen Tax. Makes you feel just like the IRS. ;-) #
  • I need to find some time to digest and understand @marshallk’s new blog/RSS microsite tool, BlogCentral. Very cool http://tinyurl.com/6zy63e #
  • @conroyl I think Dell might put XP on it if you ask them. But tablets are one area where Vista is VASTLY improved over XP. Tough call… #
  • Just fixed @davest’s video problem on the ISN blog. Go watch him talk about OpenSolaris on Xeon! http://tinyurl.com/64xlvz #
  • I love being surround by smart people at work, who are free to make cool things happen. :-) #
  • @debbieweil My friend @jmoriarty has a successful PowerPoint-free presentation using a wiki. Maybe he could tell you about it. #
  • Someone’s having a very loud conversation with someone else, about whether their daughter should do track or color guard, 10 feet from me. #
  • This is the down side to the new open work environment at Intel JF1. Some people just don’t stop to think about their loud convos being rude #
  • @Jerry_Makare I like the serendipity of people coming by and stopping to talk, but random loud conversations are annoying… #
  • But my cube/desk is in a bad spot for that - along the busiest corridor in the building. Top of the hour, when meetings get out? Chaos. #
  • @davest Yeah, but I LOVE the view/location of my cube. I don’t WANT to move away from the kitchen! :-) Just wish people were more respectful #
  • I’m sure I’m being hypocritical, though, and that I’ve annoyed others with loud conversations before. I guess that’s what headphones are for #
  • I guess I should have just put in my earbuds and tuned it out, instead of complaining. So that’s what I just did! :-) #
  • @ejacqui Yes, Twitter via Twitteriffic has been off and on for me all day so far. Not fun. #
  • ZOMG "@iraglass is now following you on Twitter" *swoon* :-) #
  • @davechen @ejacqui Lots of people complaining. It’s pretty clear the Twitter API is taking a nap today… #
  • @oleoptene Never got many responses to the "old enough to Twitter" InstaPoll. I think you guys are the leaders in that area. :-) #
  • @oleoptene Although I look forward to teaching my kids how to Twitter (with supervision) as soon as they can read and type. :-) #
  • Here’s an opportunity for Intel’s HPC/scaling/performance/software gurus to show off and do some good. Help Twitter fix their darn problems! #

  • Great case study on Juniper Networks piloting employee use of Macs. http://tinyurl.com/6gmld2 #
  • Intel has been doing a 500 person pilot of Macs for over a year now. I’ve been using Macs at Intel for a little longer, spreading the word. #
  • "Steve Jobs doesn’t need a sales force because he already has one: employees like the ones in my company." :-) #
  • @lyzadanger I have limited powers, but I’ll see if there’s anything I can do. :-) #
  • @rodfather Got a link to the new Aiptek camera? I just got approval to buy a second Go-HD for our group, might get the new one if it’s good. #
  • @rodfather Thanks for the heads up on the new 1080p Aiptek camera. Going to try to get that one instead. Only available at Wal-Mart, tho. #
