At SFO, waiting for my flight to Shanghai. Spent the night at PDX last night so as not to drag the fam to the airport at 4 AM. #
I just couldn’t make @rachelbancroft and the kids get up that early. And I don’t trust taxis/car service as far away as I live. #

Update: apparently, our plane requires 4 pilots. They only have three. Will find out in an hour if they can find a 4th pilot TODAY or not #
In other words, I might be delayed at SFO for a whole day. Can I take another night sleeping in an airport? I don’t know… #
The scene at the gate is starting to get ugly. We’ve been told there are no other flights. This is it. People are starting to get mad… #
How in the heck do they come up short a pilot for an international flight? Did he call in sick? What about backups/redundancy? Argh… #

Good news: they found a pilot. Bad news: he’s in Denver. What could have been a 24 hour delay is now only a 2 hour delay. #
I don’t believe this. We’ve been sitting on the ground in the plane for an hour and a half. #
The keep playing Good News Bad News with us. Good news our 4th pilot arrived from Denver. Bad news is, they forgot to put any fuel onboard. #
Good news is, we’re almost fueled. Bad news is, our permit to fly over Russian airspace has expired. #
They’re telling us we’ll take off in 30 minutes (3+ hours late), but I don’t believe them. This is turning into a nightmare. #
@verso yeah. I already finished the book I bought at PDX last night. And half of the Grisham novel I bought today. #
We’re pushing back. No doubt, to go sit someplace on the tarmac. Shutting down again… #

@verso Yes, FlickUp preserves geotag metadata when sending to Flickr. Which is my #1 requirement, too. I haven’t tried it yet, though. YMMV. #
@jltitus Flickup author (@kodachrome22) sez new 1.0.1 version fixes a LOT of issues. Still waiting for Apple to approve. I will buy it then. #

@kodachrome22 I’m confused. Does Flickup preserve geodata when sending to Flickr, so photos are geotagged? Notes say all EXIF gets stripped. #
Woo hoo! I just tested, and Flickup DOES preserve geodata on pics sent to Flickr. They show up on the map. Yay! #
Also, Flickup sends images full size (1600×1200) when the picture is taken with Flickup. Images sent from the Photo Album go as 640×480. #

There’s weird, loud, ghostly music floating around the streets of downtown L.A. Outdoor concert? Unknown celestial phenomenon? Zombies? #
Glad to be home in PDX. Seatmate was a cool geek named Alvin on his way back from the Olympics in Beijing. #
NOT glad to come home to a heat wave. It was a LOT cooler (albeit more humid) in L.A. #
I normally hate talking to people on airplanes, but it was fun to geek out with Alvin. He admired my Kindle, showed me his Sony Reader, etc. #
@atmasphere Yeah, the Sony Reader is nice. But I honestly found it kind of bland. Screen is bigger, but Kindle = more organic design. #

Waiting at PDX for my flight to LA. Power is out in the B gates area, they can’t retract one of the jetways. Luckily, not my flight. #

Dear Zipcar driver who stayed 10-20mph BELOW the speed limit the ENTIRE 47 miles from Mt St Helens to I-5: Die in a horrible fire. :-$ #
(we didn’t pass said Zipcar because I was last in a three car convoy that also held my MIL, not the speediest driver herself) #
That experience took YEARS off of my life. I’m still twitching… #
