- Audio of the SXSWi Zuckerberg/Lacy keynote has been posted to the SXSW Podcasts page: http://tinyurl.com/39szo5 I’m sure video is out there. #
- @ejacqui What does @funkatron babble about when he’s sober?
# - @photomatt Yeah, that WP2.5 "upgrade guide" article was weak sauce. Childish and petty. I, for one, can’t wait for WP 2.5!
# - Thanks goodness for sleep. Feeling a bit better this morning. Good thing - last day of SXSW! #
- @peat Yay! Congratulations on being a new daddy! And I second @turoczy - send Eillott’s twitter handle as time allows.
# - @annierodkins What are you using TwitterFeed for, and what problems are you having? Its been pretty reliable for me. #
- @ahockley its because the "big" voices like Scoble and Arrington (who’s not even here!) won’t shut up about it. #
- There’s much more interesting stuff going on. Frank Warren’s keynote was stellar. Kathy Sierra has returned. Lots of geeky stuff. #
- As in life in general, if you choose to listen to the real geeks and not the "cool kids", you’ll find much more interesting stuff. #
- In the video compression session. Getting started with a meaty conversation about H.264. These are my people! #
- @selenamarie et al - I’m sorry I haven’t blogged more. I’ve been sick, and bandwidth sucks at my hotel. But I will post more soon!
# - Panel talking about how hard it is to search for video because there’s no good metadata. Funny, I never have any trouble finding video. You? #
- In all for good metadata, but I think they’re making this harder than it is. Talking about CPU-intensive algorithms to detect porn, etc. #
- Panel is disconnected from reality. Wish I could show them Miro, podcast and torrent feeds. Works fine. #
- Why worry about metadata in the video file itself? When does video on the web ever exist without an associated web page or feed to dscrb it? #
- Yay! Someone spoke up and recommended Miro! Beat me to it.
# - I ranted about how the metadata/findability problem just isn’t that hard. They dodged my question, then cut me off.
# - There’s a huge line for the Michael Eisner (being interviewed by Mark Cuban) session. Its in the smallest room here. WTF? #
- this really should have been in one of the really big rooms. What were the SXSW organizers thinking!? #
- Standing room only in the Michael Eisner/Mark Cuban session. And connectivity is horrible. Probably no live tweets from me. #
- Eisner didn’t turn off his BlackBerry, and it buzzed the sound system with the GSM noise. "Oh, is that me?" #
- Line is huge to ask Michael Eisner a question. Looks like I won’t get a chance. #
- What I would ask Michael Eisner: "How long do you think copyright should last, and why?" #
- Someone just asked Eisner what he thinks about Creative Commons and the remix culture… #
- Trolled through the SXSW trade show. The haul: B&H coupons/catalog, SocialThing invites, UStream stickers, and a Vidoop demo. #
- @kveton wasn’t at the Vidoop booth, but I did meet Kevin Fox, and I finally know what Vidoop does (and it’s awesome!) #
- Vidoop is going to finally get me to start using OpenID seriously. Smart unified login manager FTW!
# - At the Adobe Day Stage. Grabbed some food, think I’ll watch the McGonigal keynote from here. I scored a seat at a table with power!
# - @memathews Power is more precious at SXSW than water.
# - Why oh why did Firefox 3 beta 4 make the "feed detected" icon in the address bar blue and white instead of the standard orange and white?
# - That throws off my whole "orange and white" theme for my Crocs, my blog, everything! Blue and white is so boring, so common, so normal… #
- @memathews Actually, I haven’t used my laptop hardly at all at the actual conference. Been camera+iPhone the whole time. #
- @memathews iPhone has most definitely replaced the need for a laptop when mobile for: reading and writing microposts, reading feeds, etc. #
- McGonigal keynote starting, with a "world premiere" video from her new ARG, Lost Ring. #
- @ejacqui I wondered how that music piracy panel would go with MediaDefender there. Please do tweet anything interesting.
# - @chartier view, toolbars, customize, and select "small icons" to get the normal, non-swollen back button in FF3b4. #
- My sinuses are killing me. I’m a snotty, drippy mess. Don’t shake my hand. #
- The session with Dr. Carlos Brown, a trauma surgeon who videoblogged his 7 month tour at a MASH hospital in Iraq, was very emotional. #
- @billpearson I don’t think so, sadly. I’m going downhill, going to go crash in my room. Have fun, and eat some BBQ for me!
# - Writeup by @turoczy on Tweetpeek, a "build your own pulse-of" Twitter mashup from Portland’s own @mtrichardson and @pixelmatrix. It rocks! #
- Here’s the writeup on Tweetpeek: http://tinyurl.com/36s3b4 #
- You know, the 5GHz wifi here at SXSW is super speedy now that most people have gone home. I just tested at 15Mbps down, 4 Mbps up.
# - @mellowynk I thought of DP the whole time. I’ll try to find a link to a video of his presentation, his blog, etc. It was very, very powerful #
- @mellowynk Here’s his blog (it’s "closed" now that he’s come home): http://trapperlosmd.blogspot.com/ . Send that along to DP? #
- Bacon alert! Bacon alert! Get some maple-bacon lolipops! http://tinyurl.com/ypj89p Yes, I’m delerious. I can’t even tweet coherently anym #
- @verso They’re $2.50 a pop (ha! see what I did there?
For that much money, I’d rather have just a big pan of bacon.
# - Ooh, plasma balls! #
- What WAS the thirteenth sign? #
- @susanreynolds Rachel’s getting better, but still sick. I go home tomorrow. Yay for flying with sinus problems!
# - Now that I’m back in my room for the night, i can do what civilized people do when they have a runny nose - shove wads of TP up my nose. #
- Playing with Skitch-to-Twitter. Enjoy!
http://skitch.com/t/gq # - @WiredPig When your sinuses are completely, totally blocked, though, sniffing does no good. I am beyond sniffing. #
- Wish I could go to Curitiba, Brazil for this: http://tinyurl.com/2puzby (I lived in and around Curitiba for almost two years) #
- @garotasemfio I will come to Curitiba some day, and I’ll definitely let you know. Would love to meet you! Same if you ever come to Oregon. #
- Yay for Dirty Jobs reruns and chocolate from Whole Foods. Om nom nom nom. This is how I party at SXSW. #
- Go watch this post-interview interview with Sarah Lacy, and tell me you’re not overwhelmed by her arrogance: http://tinyurl.com/2jj8cr #
- "Early bloggers said only an idiot would blog it, but that doesn’t stop this hardy crew at Idiot Creek." #
- I’ve decided that companies just won’t succeed in Second Life. That it’s destined to be the realm of individuals. And I’m OK with that. #
- "There’s an old blogger saying: You run in for the job, you run out for your life." #
- Someone asking me Asus R2H questions via Google Chatback on my blog. Trying to help them. #
