- Hmm. Tried to do a live video stream from the Eee PC using Ustream.tv, but it crashes Firefox. Going to try Mogulus, Yahoo Live, etc. #
- Live.yahoo.com (or rather, Flash Player) couldn’t see the webcam on the Eee PC, but I could broadcast audio. Going to try Mogulus. #
- @NickStarr Can any old person (like me) broadcast video on justin.tv? #
- Just gave an impromptu presentation about Twitter in ISN strategy meeting. Pimped pulseofpdx.com and puiseofopensource.com #
- @verso i want a Twitter Pimp (Twimp) hat!
# - @verso yeah, PDX twitter shirts are a higher priority, for sure.
# - @verso Actually, I think @kveton made them available for order at some point, but I could be mistaken… #
- Great article from Daniel Jalkut (@danielpunkass) on why Twitter is valuable for word of mouth marketing: http://tinyurl.com/3cd3cs #
- Intel Software Network’s new slogan: "Keep ISN Weird". Or at least, that’s what I’m telling people now.
# - I would use Digg a lot more if it would remember my login for more than, like, 2 hours. :-/ #
- So, Ubuntu Mobile is "out". Looks like it would be PERFECT on an Eee PC. Someone get cracking on that, wouldja? http://tinyurl.com/2yo5ep #
- @segphault Yeah, except that I don’t think the Mobiln.org image creator will target anything other than McCaslin. Is there an EeePC profile? #
- @segphault yeah, there’s got to be a way to prune it down. The web page says devices with "2 or 4GB SSD"… #
- @segphault "2GB to 8GB Flash or disk storage, 256MB+ memory/512MB+ recommended". Sounds just like the Eee PC.
# - @dsifry Wha? iPhone update 1.1.4 is out? Lemme at it!
# - @segphault Veeery interesting. I may mess around with making a live USB image for Ubuntu Mobile. I should be able to trim it down… #
- @segphault You bet.
# - @segphault I need my Ubuntu machine to use Image Builder, which is at home right now, so I doubt I’ll get to it today.
# - Downloading iPhone 1.1.4, but holding off a bit to install. I’m chicken, and I want to see what’s new!
# - @mattg Exchange support in 1.1.4? THAT would be AWESOME! That’s it. I’m upgrading. Will report back… #
- The TUAW comments on Exchange Support in 1.1.4 are ambiguous. There has ALWAYS been Exchange IMAP support, but no one can say what’s new… #
- The 1.1.4 download is taking forever. Intel’s proxy SUCKS. I’ll report on the REAL deal on iPhone Exchange support as soon as I can get it. #
- @ravenzachary That’s what I suspected (on lack of Exchange ActiveSync support) #
- I have almost zero ability to resist peer pressure. So I’m now on FriendFeed: http://friendfeed.com/jabancroft Feel free to add me.
# - Honestly, you’ll get the same thing from FriendFeed as will from my lifestream, http://www.joshbancroft.com, and my linkblog.joshbancroft.com. #
- @rodfather Yeah, I can see FriendFeed being a viable lifestream app. Need to see how their feeds look. And I wish they’d support blip.tv #
- @ravenzachary I’m sure you could modify that "plant that Twitters" rig to do body temp/bowel movement monitoring pretty easily.
# - Is there an SSH client for Mac OS X that will let me specify a SOCKS proxy for outgoing connections, like PuTTY does on Windows? #
- BTW, I did let FriendFeed plunder my Facebook and Gmail address book to add friends, but I did NOT let it spam out invitations to people… #
- @StoneTable not really. say I’m behind a SOCKS proxy, and the only way to SSH to the internet is through that proxy. #
- @StoneTable how do I tell command line SSH to go through that proxy to an internet host? #
- @ahockley I’m planning on making the photowalk. My D40 comes back to me today! Yay!
# - @rodfather no live video stream from the EeePC yet, but I still need to try justin.tv, blogtv.com, and others. #
- @harrisja no that’s the 0nly difference. there are also models with and without ("Surf") webcams #
- Results of Asus Eee PC live video stream test on justin.tv: No camera detected. I’m sensing a theme here. Flash can’t see the cam in Linux. #
- Eee PC live video test results on blogtv.com: The "broadcast now" button doesn’t work, doesn’t click. Worst so far. #
- What live video services am I missing? I’ve tried ustream, justin.tv, mogulus, Yahoo Live, and blogtv.com. What else should I try? #
- @segphault Oh! That’s interesting. Let me try again after doing that. Can also just startup the webcam app? #
- @segphault tried both the webcam app and echo’ing 1 to the cam. Yahoo Live now says "cam in use by another app", not "no cam". Progress! #
- @rodfather Yeah, that’s about what I’d guess. Flash for Linux doesn’t support the webcam in the EeePC (yet!) #
- @aritenou You can WATCH streams all day long on the EeePC - video plays just fine, as does audio. But you can’t broadcast video. #
- @aritenou Yeah, Adobe could update Flash to work with the webcam driver on the EeePC. It’s just a question of if and when.
# - @blogan No need to modify anything or use a plugin - WordPress can exclude categories from your feed natively: http://tinyurl.com/27jxr4 #
- @verso @zolotkey I did see your Stickam replies. I just ran out of time to test them. #
- @blogan I didn’t have to mod any files for that to work. Just make your feed look like this: http://tinyurl.com/2dk34t use your own cat ID. #
- @blogan it’s all in the URL. You might have to redirect your default /feed address, but the Redirection plugin can handle that. #
- What do you consider to be a "REAL" blog post? I’m really interested to know… http://tinyurl.com/36g7v8 #
- Here’s a good question: Which of the live video streaming services (Ustream, Yahoo, Stickam, etc.) uses the LEAST computing resources? #
