I think we'll see more external blogging in 2008. Its a matter of when, IMO.

I'd like to dismiss the myth that only a select few can blog.

There are many ways to blog externally. For blogs.intel.com you have to blog through the management of a blog editor that manages one of the channels. For Open Port anyone can blog, and I mean anyone who accepts terms and conditions of the site. To blog within a zone you must work with a Community Manager, however on Open Port you can publish a personal blog. For Intel folks you need to take the external communication training, but that is the only barrier for blogging.

To date there just isn't a site dedicated to Intel voices. That would be nice, but make no mistake you can blog and I encourage that you do.

As I understand it, posting blogs internally is open to everyone. However, posting to the external blog is by invitation. I would imagine that Intel would like to keep a tight reign over just who posts for the whole universe to see. I couldn't blame them for operating in this manner. They have to think of the company first, the individual blogger second. Wise decision.

Yeah, I wish for that, too. I'm working on s a few ideas that would make Intel open up a little more, and let Intel people blog and connect with the rest of the world. Stay tuned - hopefully I'll have something to announce at some point in the future!

I wish Intel would make it easier for people to blog. It's still limited to a selected few. Too bad.

<!--%kramer-pre%-->a way to do it. Period. It’s futile to think you can do otherwise. It’s a waste of time. Disagree with me? Great! Matt does. He’s going to post something up on communities.intel.com. I’ll be sure to link to it when it’s ready. We’ve beentalking all day in this IT@Intel about how to really engage in good conversations as bloggers, so here’s a chance to eat our own dogfood. And you’re definitely invited to be part of the conversation? What is your company’s approach to employee use of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social network tools?<!--%kramer-post%-->
