Google Calendar has the ability to send SMS text messages for reminders of upcoming events. I went to set it up this afternoon, but ran into a problem.
Not sure why, but Verizon Wireless is not listed in the pick box where you have to choose your wireless carrier. Pretty much all of the other carriers are, but not Verizon.
Feh.
Dear Google - please add the ability to send text messages to customers of the largest wireless carrier in the U.S. THXBYE ![]()
I applaud Google for not supporting inferior wireless services
Simple, ugly work around: enable email notifications in google calendar and have your email client forward any emails from calendar-notification@google.com to areacode+yourphonenumber@vtext.com.

All I have to say is that I use Sprint, and they are fantastic about supporting Google apps. I’m not one to badmouth others, so I won’t, but I will definately point at the good… so go check Sprint out
Google can now send to Verizon phones. I get SMS messages all day from my Google Calendar. And if you text “Dinner at 6p” to GVENT (48368) it will add an appointment to your calendar.
You know that Verizon weren’t the only one that couldn’t send reminders. I can’t remember which ones but it seems your problems are solved already
