I know I already have a PSP. It’s not because I don’t have anything to play with. But I’m a geek, and a collector of gaming systems and mobile gadgets. The Nintendo DS is both. Plus, it’s got several innovative and interesting games - Elektroplankton, Nintendogs, Wario Ware Twisted, Metroid Pinball, etc.

We should start a pool on how long it will be before I cave in and get one…

Finished “Breaking Dawn” last night. Great book if you like the series. Lots of twists. Not sure why it’s attracting so much hate. #

Hmm. The Eee PC 901 Linux version comes with Firefox 2 instead of 3. Strange. Will upgrade soon, but I want to run “stock” for a while. #
@Yasumoto The Eee PC 901, with the 8.9″ screen and 1.6GHz Atom processor is $599. Windows version has 12GB, Linux version 20GB. #
@Yasumoto There are other, less expensive netbooks, though. MSI Wind, Acer Aspire One, Dell, Lenovo. They shoot closer to $300. #
So, a couple days later, what’s the verdict on iPhone OS 2.0.1 on a 3G? I’m hearing scary things from @xenijardin… #

@jmoriarty For big laptops, I’ve used and loved a Kensington Saddlebag Pro for years. It’s great. For netbooks, the Timbuk2 Metro looks good #

To sum up “anti-Kindle” reasons: DRM is evil, no lending, no bulk/smell, upfront price, gadget stigma, no backlight, not unique like a book. #
I postulate that people who love the Kindle are those who are willing to sacrifice the tangible experience of books to absorb more content. #

Let’s turn this around a little. If you have and love a Kindle, WHY do you love it? Carrying lots of books? Online store? Searching? Web? #
Here are a few of my reasons for loving Kindle: carrying TONS of books in my pocket, searching them all, looking stuff up on Wikipedia, etc. #
I love that I was able to get a new. popular book (Breaking Dawn) from my hotel room on the beach without going to a store at midnight. #
@JoshProStar But you CAN do all those social media things on a Kindle: feeds, Twitter, etc. It’s not perfect, but it works in a pinch. #
I love that there are TONS of free books out there (Creative Commons, Feedbooks, Manybooks, Gutenberg, etc.). I’ve got dozens on my Kindle. #
@JoshProStar That’s what your iPhone is for (easier). #
@unclenate re: dangers of digitizing everything - Have you read Vinge’s “Rainbow’s End”? It looks at that in detail. Bought on my Kindle #

Big day planned: Pig n Pancacke, Oregon Coast Aquarium, play on the beach, and who knows what else. Yay for vacation! #
The Oddworld exhibit at the Oregon Coast Aquarium is very cool. It’s like walking around in Finding Nemo. #
Coolest thing at the aquarium so far: spider crabs the size of Golden Retrievers. Agressive, too. Come right up to the glass and attack. #
@influxx It’s in Newport, OR. Big town, or stay anywhere near along the coast. It’s all amazing. All Oregon beaches are public, too. #
@lightningdiva We hit Mo’s last night. There was a big sandcastle contest there in the Taft district today, though. Have fun! #

I like letting Google Reader run pages through Google’s reformatter. Makes them smaller, load faster, and easier to read. #
I use Google’s Mobile Page Translator all the time, via the Mobilize This! bookmarklet. Now GReader can save me that step. #
